1918 II

“1918” and “1918 II” are a diptych on vintage sheets of music, the song is called “till the end of time”. the piece is inspired by the 1918 flu pandemic which killed an estimated 50 to 100 million globally. the hand written text across the top is a nursery rhyme from that time…”i had a little bird, it’s name was enza, i opened the window and in flew enza”. the birds are to illustrate the possible source of the sickness. the bottom has the last page from a mad magazine “spy vs spy” paperback book. i always thought those spys looked like the birds. the spy’s are shooting “the end” into the backs of each other. …we are over due another pandemic.
