Derek said, "An artist works better when grounded in who they are. I tend to draw hearts often because they represent how I truly feel—sometimes dark and broken, sometimes sharp and colorful. It’s poking out of me frequently, and in this piece, I’m handing it over to the viewer. Maybe you can hand it over to someone you care about."
