Give Me Back My Cross is a limited edition silkscreen print by Derek Hess that's 1 of 5 prints that have been brought back as part of his 20th Anniversary Print Collection. The print features a loosely drawn angel standing on the ground, hunched over with wings, hands and head hanging down to his feet. A a broad stroke of red behind and through the entire angel, loosely painted with cross strokes, was pulled as a second color to emphasize the emotional aspect of the art. 

Derek said, "For the past 20 years, I’ve experimented with different ways of drawing loosely. Sometimes I paint broad strokes in color layers behind the figure. Here, I took a straight edge across the bottom to keep the impact of the weight coming down."

Handwritten at the bottom by Derek is the title, "Give me back my cross," which are lyrics by the band Overkill.
