Zeitgeist is a rare pen and acrylic wash illustration by artist Derek Hess. Seated at a massive red throne adorned with barbed wired and human skulls, an autocratic businessman smokes a cigarette, while surrounded by mountains of gold coins at his feet. 

Derek said, "I created this drawing in 2008, but it's never been more relevant than now in 2025." 

Zeitgeist means the defining spirit or mood of a particular period in history as shown by the ideas and beliefs of the time. This illustration by Derek has not been published before.
